What is Foam Core & Adhesive Board?

Foam core board: A lightweight yet sturdy material commonly used in picture framing for supporting various structures within frames.

Adhesive backing board: A type of board that has a self-adhesive layer on one side, suitable for easily mounting photos and posters.

How to use adhesive boards

  1. Measure and Cut: Measure your artwork and cut the adhesive board 10cm or so larger than your desired size.
  2. Peel and Stick: Peel off the backing paper and carefully position your artwork on the adhesive side, rolling it on slowly and rubbing the surface with a soft cloth. This ensures there are no bubbles.
  3. Trim board to correct size: Once it’s stuck down, use a straight edge to trim away the excess foam core.

Advice for working with adhesive boards

With self-adhesive boards, always peel back a little bit of release paper and align the item to be mounted. Then peel back more and rub with a soft cloth as you go.

Working with self-adhesive materials in cold weather?

In lower temperatures, the effectiveness of any self-adhesive materials (tapes, boards, etc.) & PVA glues is reduced. We recommend letting them come up to room temperature for a few hours before using them and during curing for a strong bond.
