What is a Conservation Backing Board?

Conservation picture framing backing board is an acid-free material designed for Preserving Artwork, Archiving Documents & Framing Sensitive Materials. To avoid confusion, it’s worth mentioning that this product should not be used as an actual backing board but rather as a barrier board between the artwork and frame backing board.

Barrier Boards’ key principle is to create a barrier between the artwork and the frame backing board.
