This guide will walk you through the process, step-by-step, to achieve seamless frame corners every time

⚠️Although the wax is generally non-irritating, prolonged skin contact may cause irritation in some individuals. If you have sensitive skin, consider wearing disposable gloves to protect your hands.

⚠️Avoid getting wax filler in your eyes.

  • Step 1: Inspect Your Frames Corners

    After your frame has been assembled and the glue has fully cured, conduct a thorough inspection of each corner. Pay close attention to the areas where the moulding pieces meet. This initial inspection is crucial for identifying all areas that require filling.

    Helpful tip:

    Hold the frame up to a light source to reveal any visible gaps or imperfections.

  • Step 2: Prepare the Amaco Wax Filler

    Select an Amaco Wax Filler that closely matches the colour of your frame moulding. Ensure the wax is pliable and ready for application.

    Helpful tip:

    To make the wax easier to work with, you can slightly warm it by rubbing it between your fingers to soften it. This will make it easier to apply and push into the gaps.

  • Step 3: Apply the Wax Filler

    Carefully apply the wax filler to any visible gaps in the frame corners. Use your finger or a clean, soft cloth to gently push the filler into the crevice. Ensure the gap is completely filled, and that the filler adheres to all sides of the moulding, excluding the back and rebate depth. Focus on filling the gap, and do not worry about excess on the surface at this point (we will clean this up in the next step).

  • Step 4: Remove any excess filler

    Once the gaps are filled, use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any excess wax filler from the surface of the frame. Employ a gentle, circular motion to remove the excess without pulling the filler out of the gaps.

    Pay particular attention to the edges of the filled areas, ensuring a smooth transition between the filler and the moulding surface.

  • Step 5: Check for Residue and Smears

    Carefully examine the surface for any remaining wax residue or smears. Use a clean portion of your cloth to buff the surface until it is free of any visible imperfections. This final check is essential for achieving a professional, clean finish.

    Before handling the frame further, ensure that your hands are completely free of any wax residue. Wax can easily transfer from your hands to the frame, potentially causing stains or marks. Wash your hands thoroughly or use a clean cloth to wipe them down.
