Shirt Framing Course from £185
This course covers how to support clothing, create depth and attach clothing in a frame. The project is on a large scale and provides an eye-catching final piece sure to be a conversation starter.
You might be looking for a new DIY challenge, have a sporting hobby or want to offer a comprehensive framing service. The processes involved are to the Fine Art Trade Guild Commended Level so ideal for anyone wanting to frame professionally – a suitable introduction if you wish to study for the Guild Certified Framer exam.
Previous frame making experience is essential, as you will be using these skills to further your frame-making repertoire.
You will maximise the training potential if you are already familiar with specialist tools used in basic framing, able to cut mitres in mouldings, know how to form and fix a frame and how to plan, mark out and cut mounts. Our Basics of Framing and Mount Cutting and Decoration workshops will bring you up to speed.
This is a one day course from 10am – 5pm.
Class sizes are a maximum of 10 and we will supply each student with tools and materials to work with at their own work station.
During the workshop you create a frame with a creative mount using colour to enhance those on the shirt and a deep rebate to allow the item space. To hold the shirt securely you will design a support insert and learn how to fix it to the backing. You will then need to assemble your project and add fixings to ensure it can be hung safely.
We provide tea and coffee, a certificate of achievement and a full training manual. You need to choose a sport shirt or t-shirt from home for framing and don’t forget a packed lunch!
When choosing your shirt please note that between 25% & 40% of the shirt will be folded under.
